³⁰ “The king’s chief assistant spoke very roughly to us,” they told him, “and took us for spies. ³¹ ‘No, no,’ we said, ‘we are honest men, not spies. ³² We are twelve brothers, sons of one father; one is dead, and the youngest is with our father in the land of Canaan.’
